With more than 37 years experience in the commercial, resources, industrial, petrochemical and mining industries, Sipho Nkosi is a highly accomplished business person. As an esteemed corporate executive he serves on the boards of several leading companies in South Africa.
Sipho is the Chairman of global integrated energy and chemical giant Sasol, Director of diversified financial services group Sanlam, and Co-founder and Chairman of investment holding company Talent10. He retired as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Exxaro Resources Limited in March 2016. He founded Eyesizwe Holdings and served as CEO before its merger into Exxaro in 2006. He is also Chairman of Eyesizwe Holdings and a Board Member of Eyesizwe Mining. Sipho serves on a number of boards including Sanlam, Director of Tronox Limited, Chairman of SBI (Small Business Institute), Member of Council at Wits University and is the Chairman of the SA National Energy Association, a past President of the SA Chamber of Mines and Country Manager for ABB Alstom Power (SA). He has a BCom (University of Zululand), BCom Hons (Econ) (Unisa) and MBA (University of Massachusetts, Boston). He also holds a Diploma in Marketing Management (Unisa), and he completed the Advanced Management Programme at the University of Oxford in the UK.
Managing Director and CEO
Jann boasts more than 15 years experience in the resources, commercial, mining, projects & operations industries. He is also the founder and current Managing Director of PCM Consulting, PCM Services, PCM Investments and PCM Green.
He was the master mind behind some of the most innovative sustainability and first of its kind solutions in the industry, which includes amongst other the first modular waste water to potable drinking water plants registered in South Africa – saving 75% of a facility’s water, first Eskom SSEG LV connection, 6 Green Star Buildings and combining various energy, water, waste and facility sustainability solutions into one service offering to clients. Jann was previously part of various senior management and project management teams, which amongst other includes the Exxaro’s Madupi Expansion & Backfill, Mintails Westwits, Anglo Wergo, Ergo and Super Tailings, Kumba Expansion and the Lonmin Karee 4 Project Teams. Jann received various accolades and awards throughout his career, which includes but to name a few; the CEO Africa award and The Voice of Leaders. He holds a MSc. Project Management Degree, BSc. Hon. Technology Management and BSc QS Degree from the University of Pretoria.
Ernst has more than 36 years experience in the resources, industrial and mining industries. As a former executive at Exxaro, he was responsible for growth, technology, projects, services and ferrous business. Ernst was also in charge of coal and base metal operations and held senior management positions at Kumba Resources and the Iscor’s mining division.
He was instrumental in the initiation and realization of the Grootegeluk Matimba and Medupi expansions, the establishment of metallurgical coal beneficiation plants at Grootegeluk to enter the metallurgical and export coal markets, the creation of a Fe Si manufacturing plant for the then Kumba iron ore beneficiation plants, the acquisition of Zincor and the creation of the Cennergi renewable energy business for Exxaro. He has held various other senior leadership positions at the company relating to the coal, base metals and energy businesses and was also responsible for the technology strategy for the company operations. He is the founder of Solar Eco, a company providing solar energy solutions. He is well respected for his contributions and his knowledge towards mining solutions waste reclamation in various sectors and served in numerous senior management positions for Kumba and Exxaro. Ernst received various accolades throughout his career and is seen as one of the most influential people in the mining sector of our time. He holds a B.Eng. Hon, Metallurgical Degree from the University of Pretoria, with an MBA from USB and an AMP from INSEAD France.
